I2S stereo ADC (Cystral CS5333)

Introduction

This breakout board was developed to test and design circuits using the Cystal CS5333 stereo sigma delta ADC, this 16bit device supports 192KHz and it ideal for audio application, in addition AC coupling allows inputs with a DC offset to be connected without problems with cliping.

The data format is the standard I2S interface and supports left alignment of the 24 bit data packet if required as well.

Although the ADC on this board is rated for 16bit, is unlikely to achieve this level of preformance due to the board only being two layer, however the two layer assembly meant I could etch the PCB at home.

The PCB was etched myself, with 0.5mm holes drilled and single strand wire used to join layers for vias. The PCB was double layer, with text in top layer instead of a silk screen
